Goro Majima
The Lord of the Night

In Yakuza 0, Goro Majima is introduced as the polished and composed manager of The Grand, Sotenbori’s most luxurious cabaret club. Known as the "Lord of the Night," he appears to be a successful businessman, effortlessly handling VIP clientele and maintaining the club’s dominance. However, beneath the surface, Majima is a man living in captivity. Forced into this role as a form of punishment, he is closely monitored and stripped of his freedom, with every move dictated by higher powers.
Despite his charming and calculated persona, Majima harbors a deep yearning to return to his former life in the yakuza. He follows orders without resistance, biding his time and waiting for a chance to prove himself worthy of reentry. This opportunity arises when he is assigned a job—one that, if completed, could restore his lost status. However, what begins as a simple task soon turns into something far more complex, forcing Majima to make choices that test his sense of morality and personal convictions.
Majima’s journey in Yakuza 0 is one of transformation. At the outset, he is restrained—both physically and emotionally—forced to play a role that does not suit him. As the story progresses, his true nature begins to emerge. He is resourceful, fearless, and deeply loyal, though these traits put him at odds with the forces controlling him. The more he fights for his own sense of justice, the further he drifts from the life he thought he wanted.
By the end of Yakuza 0, Majima is no longer the man he was at the beginning. The choices he makes define him, shaping the unpredictable and chaotic persona he later becomes known for. However, this transformation is not without pain. His story is one of sacrifice, survival, and the struggle to maintain one’s identity in a world that demands submission.
